Richard's January Favorites...
The book Out on a Limb was also made into a two-part movie. The story is an autobiography of Shirley MacLaines early life, where she traces her quest for self discovery and the infinite possibilities of life. If you watch the two-part movie, the first part is a little slow but it sets up the context for the second part which is really wonderful.
The movie, Pump up the Volume is from the 80's. It conveys a message that is meaningful, even more so today. A young student starts a pirate radio show where he wages his truth against the injustices and hypocrisies he sees taking place.
Magnesium. Most people are deficient in magnesium. I highly recommend magnesium baths, a high quality magnesium supplement, smart magnesium food choices (such as dark chocolate, avocados, nuts, etc) or try a float tank in your local area!
Sumir's January Favorites...
Over these past months, I've learned to embrace the subtly powerful benefits of a slower lifestyle. By allowing myself to rest when I'm tired my mind is clearer and more productive when at work. Self massage and taking long baths have resourced my nervous system to meet stressful moments with more ease. Intentional breathing has softened my busy mind and I am more present and available for my life, creativity and loved ones. Taking just a few moments to enjoy the sunrises and sunsets out my window have reminded me that with each passing day, I am blessed to rise to meet another.
So my recommendation this month is to find the absolute magic in giving your full attention to a single moment in time, may it be a single breath, a few strides in your morning walk, the sound of your pet's heart beat, the fragrance of your morning beverage, the quiet splendor of snow falling outside your window.
When we slow down we get to feel how good life already is... no additional striving necessary.
